Things to consider when looking for a rug:

• Know the largest and smallest size that will fit in the room.
• Any obstacles that will be in the way; floor vents, radiators, steps, etc.
• Desired effect-formal or casual.
• A basic color scheme that is desired.
• Type of lighting-natural or artificial.
• Color of floor-light or dark wood, tile, carpeting.
• Furniture colors & prints.
• If the rug will be used in a dining room, the rug should be large enough for the chairs to be pulled away from the table while remaining on the rug.

It is always easier to purchase a rug first and design the room around the rug's colors than to find the perfect rug to match your decor.
